SALE OF 1 UNIT OF SELF-PROPELLED SHIP-SHAPED SEMI JACK-UP BARGE

Arena Offshore/ Istanbul is pleased to announce the selling of a Self-propelled ship-shaped semi Jack-up Barge to Turkish Buyers “Karadeniz Holding” The Jack-up barge named Sea Power is built in 1991 in Denmark with a length of 91.76 mtrs a beam of 21.6 mtrs and a draft of 4.25 mtrs. The two main engines rated a total output of 2,400 kW with two shaft generators each 750 kW. The maximum working depth is 18 mtrs with 2 mtrs tide. Her 4 legs have a length of 32 mtrs. A deck space of 1,020 m2 and a load of 2,386 tonnes depending on stability. Operating water depth is 4.5 to 24 mtrs. She has a wiring jacking system. The main crane has a capacity of 210 tons @ 14 mtrs outreach. The cargo trane has a lifting capacity of 27 tons. Further she has an accommodation of 28 single bedrooms. Arena Offshore acted as Buyer’s Broker in this deal.

POLARCUS SCORES MORE WORK

Polarcus has finalized a contract for 3D marine seismic acquisition in Australia, and secured a 30-day extension to the West African campaign. The Australia program should deliver broadband data-set utilizing one of the Polarcus X-bow vessels. The project is due to start in Q3 2017 and will run for approximately two months. The West African campaign, initially announced in January this year, was scheduled to last for approximately one month and execution in Q1 2017. Duncan Eley, COO, said: “The multiple awards announced recently are testament to our strong reputation with clients globally and our ability to secure key projects in the contract market, which is our previously stated strategy. These recent announcements provide clear visibility of our fleet through end Q3 and into Q4.”

BOLUDA BUYS GERMAN TOWAGE OPERATORS Spain’s

Spain’s Boluda Corporación Marítima has acquired the German towing company URAG and its subsidiaries URAG International and Lütgens & Reimers (L&R).The sale of the Germany’s oldest tug operators comes following the firms’ financial problems. The signing of the business acquisition took place in the German city of Hamburg, between Vicente Boluda Fos and Vicente Boluda Ceballos and Klaus Thesenfitz, president and owner of Linnhoff, a sales company. According to Boluda, the acquisition is a strategic move as it places it in important German ports, such as Hamburg, the second in Europe, or Bremenhaven, the fourth most important European port. The deal is part of the expansion program being carried out by Boluda Towage and Salvage, which has already been established in France, West Coast of Africa, Indian Ocean, Latin America and the Caribbean. Boluda Corporación Marítima has created the company Boluda Deutschland, which will be in charge of the management of the German companies. In addition to Hamburg and Bremenhaven, service will also be provided in Bremen, as well as port areas of Brake, Cuxhaven, Nordenham and Willhelmshaven, Boluda said. The acquisition relates to a fleet of 18 tugs, both port and offshore, operating in seven ports and a staff of 140 people.

ROYAL IHC HANDS OVER HOPPER DREDGER DASA I

Royal IHC has completed delivery of the trailing suction hopper dredger DASA I to Dragados Argentinos DASA S.A. of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The contract for this standardized TSHD of Easydredge 2700 series was signed with DASA in late 2016. It took only few months for IHC to complete the sale/delivery cycle for this dredger. “With the delivery of the vessel from stock, we are proud to support DASA with its entry into the hopper dredging market, and to be delivering the first new-built TSHD to Argentina in decades,” said IHC Area Sales Director Hans Hesen. The DASA I is equipped with a “world dredging package”, which includes bottom doors, a bow coupling and a dredging depth of 25m. This makes her suitable for a wide range of tasks, from port and channel maintenance to land reclamation.

EIDESVIK OFFSHORE SELLS VIKING POSEIDON

Eidesvik Offshore has entered into an agreement for the sale of its vessel Viking Poseidon with a buyer which the company left unnamed. The Norwegian vessel owner will deliver the Viking Poseidon to its new owner mid-March 2017. In June 2016, the vessel was chartered by Siemens for offshore wind farm operations in the German sector for a period of up to 5 months, after it had been in lay-up since the previous charterer Harkand went into administration. Prior to this, Eidsvik entered into an agreement with Siemens for the Acergy Viking, chartered for 9 months as an accommodation and service vessel in Germany, with the contract starting in August 2016. Meanwhile, a new contract was signed for the Acergy Viking last month, under which the vessel will commence a new six-month contract plus options for Siemens Wind Power in the German offshore wind sector in June 2017.

TOWING VESSEL SONNY J SANK IN MISSISSIPPI RIVER

The towing vessel Sonny J partially sank on Lower Mississippi River near Vidalia, Louisiana. The vessel was proceeding in southern direction en route to Natchez, when started getting water ingress in engine compartment, which started flooding. The crew reacted immediately, leaving the fairway and reporting the accident the the local authorities. During the accident on board of the tug Sonny J there were 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel on board, but fortunately the fuel tank vents remained above water and have been plugged. At the scene of the troubled vessel were sent oil spill response teams, which laid oil booms and sorbent material around the towing vessel and there is light sheening within the boomed area. Fortunately during the accident there were no reported injuries among the crew. The root cause of the incident was under investigation. Coast Guard teams are assessing the situation and considering the refloating of the troubled towing vessel. The towing tug Sonny J has overall length of 20.0 m, moulded beam of 6.00 m and maximum draft of 2.00 m.

KIZHUCH & CHERNAYA BARABUL’KA TO STELLENDAM

Last week was seen the transfer transport of the two Damen ASD 3010 ICE class vessels Kizhuch (Imo 9801938) & Chernaya Barabul'ka (Imo 9801926) from the Rotterdam Waalhaven to the Damen Stellendam Shipyard for further outfitting. The tugs were transported from their building yard in China on board the heavy cargo vessel Trina. The transport to Stellendam was carried out by the Van Wijngaarden Marine Services tugs Gouwstroom and the Vliestroom as stern tug.

CWIND SUPPORTS CENTRICA JACK UP OPERATIONS FROM GRIMSBY HUB

CWind, a leading provider of services to the offshore wind industry, announced today that it provided one of its Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) to international energy and services company, Centrica. The vessel MPC 19 CWind Alliance supported the Lynn and Inner Dowsing (LID) offshore wind farms operated by Centrica that will provide 194.4MW of installed offshore wind capacity for the UK. All work at LID is conducted through the port of Grimsby where CWind has offices, facilities and CTV berths. Centrica required a vessel at short notice and CWind was able to meet this need by deploying a CTV from its large fleet of vessels. CWind also provided local and responsive management and support for the project from the CWind Grimsby office. Lee Andrews, Managing Director CWind, said, “We were pleased to be able to help Centrica by supplying one of our crew transfer vessels at short notice. This further builds on our productive working relationship with Centrica, and is a clear demonstration of our adaptability to meet customer demands utilising our large fleet of vessels and local presence in Grimsby.” Jeremy Gilmour, Project Manager, Centrica commented, “We needed quick access to a suitable vessel and with CWind having offices and CTV berths at Grimsby and vessel availability, we were quickly able to arrange this charter. CWind provided a flexible and responsive service and we look forward to using their services on future charters going forward.”

DAMEN TRADING HAS ANNOUNCED THE SALE OF THE PILOT BOAT MERCURY TO URK, THE NETHERLANDS-BASED COMPANY MARISERVE

This vessel is already the ninth vessel, previously owned by the Dutch Pilot Association, of which Damen Trading has handled the sale as exclusive broker. We will continue this cooperation for the next couple of years when the next pilot boats become available. The vessels ranged in size from small pilot boats like the Mercury to larger, 55 metres long Pilot Station vessels. Michel Radjiman, Senior Sales Manager of Damen Trading and Chartering says: “During the time we have worked with the Dutch Pilot Association we have enjoyed an excellent cooperation and we thank them for putting their trust in us.” Mr Bentinck, Managing Director of the Pilot Association, said: “We have been very pleased with the personable service we have received from Damen Trading and the fact that the collaboration has achieved exactly the result we were seeking.” Damen has worked with Mariserve on a number of occasions in the past. The Captain/Owner, Mr Kapitein, said: “Damen Trading helped us to sell a pushboat on one occasion and, over the course of the past 9 years, we have purchased three vessels from them. It has always been a pleasure to work with Damen Trading.” The Mercury will continue under the name Sirocco.

TUG AND BARGE GROUNDED AT TOK KEDERAT

The "MCL Power 111" and a barge it was towing from Thailand to Johor ran aground at the Tok Kederat beach in the early morning of Jan 24, 2017. The convoy was scheduled to arrive at Tanjung Belungkor in Johor on Jan 25 after having left Thailand on Jan 18. The barge, which was carrying 5,800 tonnes of limestone and eight crew members and its tug beached at about 4 a.m. The vessels were hit by huge waves about 10 nautical miles from Bachok waters. The tow rope got entangled in the tug's propeller. Help had been sought from the scuba unit of the Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department to cut the rope. Then efforts would be made to move the vessels out to sea to continue the journey to Johor.

HARBOR STAR BUYS TUGBOAT AS IT GEARS FOR EXPANSION

Tugboat operator Harbor Star Shipping Services, Inc. has secured the Maritime Industry Authority approval to register its newly acquired tugboat. In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Wednesday, the listed company said the new tugboat MT Reda will support the domestic expansion of the operator. Harbor Star was incorporated in 1988 mainly to engage in harbor assistance (docking and undocking), ship salvage, towage or lighterage, specialized cargo handling operations, and other marine services. “Harbor Star took delivery of MT Reda at the Port of Batangas last December 2016. The 2,956 BHP, 40-ton bollard pull tugboat will augment the continuous domestic expansion of Harbor Star,” the listed operator said in its regulatory filing. MT Reda is the third tugboat imported by Harbor Star in 2016. Harbor Star now manages 41 tugboats in the Philippines and Malaysia. Harbor Star announced last December that it received board approval to raise as much as P1 billion through a follow-on offering to fund its international fleet expansion, domestic feeder vessel services and renewable energy project. It will call for a stockholders’ meeting this quarter to secure the approval of its stockholders. It also secured a $2.5-million loan facility from a company based in the British Virgin Islands to fund its expansion plans and operations.

DBL INAUGURATES NEW DREDGERS

Dhaka-based business conglomerate DBL Group last Saturday inaugurated two IHC Beaver 50 cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) and two Delta Multi Craft (DMC) 1050 work boats. The vessels were inaugurated by the Bangladesh Minister of Shipping, Honorable Shajahan Khan. Also attending the ceremony were Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Commodore Mohammad Mozammel Haque, Chairman, District Commissioner (DC), and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Madaripur District, Abdul Wahed, Chairman of DBL Group, Anwarul Azim, Technical Director, DBL Group, Md. Matiar Rahman, Chief Operating Officer. Just in the last two years, IHC has sold over 20 IHC Beavers and work boats to various dredging contractors in Bangladesh. The total number of IHC vessels and units of equipment supplied to Bangladesh since 1972 is now nearing 50.

DOF SCORES LONG TERM CHARTERS WITH PETROBRAS

Norskan Offshore, a Brazilian offshore vessel owners has secured three charters with Petrobras. DOF, Norskan’s Oslo-listed parent company, said Norskan has been awarded a 1+1 year contract with Petrobras for Skandi Botafogo anchor handlers. The contract will start February 15.. Furthermore, Norskan has secured two contracts with Petrobras for Skandi Leblon and Skandi Flamengo platform supply vessels for 365 days and 668 days respectively. DOF said that the two PSVs were sold in 2015, however Norskan retained market risk on contract renewal for these vessels after sale. “It is very satisfactory that Norskan continues to secure long term contracts for our Brazilian fleet. In 2016 we had low utilization for Skandi Flamengo. These new awards secures a higher backlog for these vessels in 2017 compared to 2016” says Mons S. Aase, CEO of DOF.

NEPTUN 11 HEADING TO THE FAR EAST

Following a period of refit at Hardinxveld in the Netherlands, the tug/utility vessel 'Neptun 11' is about to head to the Far East for owners Landfall Marine Contractors BV. The tug is reported as being ‘available’ for any part of the passage via Suez and is due to return to the Netherlands via the Cape of Good Hope double-towing two new build 82m barges also for Landfall Marine. The BV-classed, 36m tug was built in China in 2011 and has a bollard pull of 42 tons and is fitted with a 50t pull, 100t brake load double-drum towing winch. Free running speed is 12 knots and Neptun 11 has a sailing range without tow of 11,000 miles.

FIRST TUG AND BARGE THROUGH PANAMA CANAL’S LARGER LOCKS

The new locks of the Panama Canal saw another milestone on this month with the successful transit of TradeWinds Towing tug Hollywood and barge JMC 3336. This was the first transit by a tug and barge through the new locks. The tug and deck barge departed Tampico, Mexico January 3rd for Seattle, WA, where the barge will be delivered to new owners. The JMC 3336 has a beam of 120 feet, which is 14 feet wider than the “Panamax” width permitted in the original locks. Prior to the canal’s expansion, a barge this size would have been towed via the Strait of Magellan, an additional 9,000 miles. “For this transit, the Hollywood towed the barge through with its tow wire, while an assist tug kept control of the stern and slowed the barge after it entered each chamber,” said TradeWinds Towing. “The highly professional pilots and tug crews of the Panama Canal Authority ensured that the entire operation was safely executed. The successful passage was made possible by shipping agency Gateway Transit, which has unrivaled experience with towing operations through the canal.”” The tug Hollywood was acquired by TradeWinds Towing in 2016. She recently underwent a life-extension at Conrad Deepwater Shipyard in Amelia, LA. She is powered by two EMD 16-645-E2 main engines, producing 4200 HP.

APACHE HIRES PSV TRIO FROM DEEP SEA SUPPLY

Offshore supply vessel operator Deep Sea Supply has been awarded a contract for one of its platform suppliers and two contract extensions, all in the North Sea. The company informed in an Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Thursday that the PSVs Sea Flyer and Sea Forth have been awarded contract extensions by Apache in the North Sea. The extensions are until January 1, 2020. The vessels Sea Forth and Sea Flyer have been operating for the client since end 2013, and their current contracts were due to expire March 2018 and July 2018, respectively. In addition, the PSV Sea Tantalus has been awarded a six-month contract, plus options, for operations in the UKCS for Apache North Sea. The six months contract for Sea Tantalus started on January 17,

HANSON INVESTS €70 MILLION IN TWO NEW HOPPER DREDGERS

Hanson has decided to invest €70 million in two new 3,000 cubic meter capacity trailing suction hopper dredgers for its marine aggregate fleet. The company announced that the newbuilds will be the first new aggregate dredgers to be commissioned by Hanson in the UK for more than 25 years. Hanson UK chief executive Daniel Cooper said: “This significant investment is the first step in a strategic replacement program for our existing fleet of eight dredgers which deliver marine aggregates into a network of wharves in both the UK and continental Europe.” “It is also a key part of our overall strategic plan. Marine dredged sand and gravel is critical to our UK business. It used in around half of our ready-mixed concrete plants and is becoming more and more important due to the increasing scarcity of land-won sand and gravel, particularly around London and south east England,” added Cooper. The new TSHDs, which will enter service in 2019, will be equivalent in size to Hanson’s existing A-Class vessels, carrying up to 5,500 tonnes of sand and gravel. According to Hanson, the new ships, which will provide major improvements in fuel consumption, reliability and CO2 emissions, will be built by the Dutch shipbuilder Barkmeijer at its yard at Stroobos in the Netherlands. The two-year build program will be overseen by a dedicated project management team to ensure the design specification is followed and the timeline stays on track.

GLADDING-HEARN DELIVERS NEW BOAT TO LAKE PILOTS

The Lake Pilots Association, District 2, in Port Huron, MI, has accepted delivery of a new Chesapeake Class pilot boat from Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, Somerset, MA. With a length overall of 52.5', a beam of 16.7', and a draft of 4.8', the all-aluminum pilot boat features the C. Raymond Hunt-designed Deep V hull. Power is provided by twin Cummins QSM11 diesel engines, each delivering 602 bhp at 2300 rpm and turning 5-blade NiBrAl propellers via Twin Disc MGX-5114A Quickshift gears to give the vessel a top speed of 25 knots. Diesel fuel capacity is 690 gallons, which, shipyard officials say, will provide a range of at least 350 miles at an economical speed of about 20 knots. The engines turn 5-blade NiBrAl propellers via Twin Disc MGX-5114A "Quickshift" gears. A Humphree interceptor trim tab, with automatic trim optimization, is installed at the transom. The wheelhouse, flush-mounted to the deck amidships and with forward-leaning front windows, is outfitted with Llebroc seats and a settee and is heated by two 40,000 BTU Heatercraft units. The forecastle also hass a 40,000 BTU heater, along with a settee, portable head, and built-in storage cabinets. Outside of the wheelhouse, the handrails and foredeck are heated by a 120,000 BTU diesel-fired heater. There are boarding platforms on the roof and port and starboard on the foredeck. At the transom are throttle and steering controls, and a winch-operated, rotating davit over a recessed platform for rescue operations.

RNLI HELPS DISABLED WIND FARM GUARD VESSEL

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) Cromer station received a report from the Coastguard of a wind farm support vessel in distress off the Dudgeon offshore wind farm on Saturday, February 4, at around 5 am local time. The distress call was issued by the converted fishing boat, the Resolute, which suffered a fouled propeller. The Cromer station launched an all-weather lifeboat Lester to assist the 25-metre Resolute. Due to bad weather conditions forecast and repairs impossible, it was agreed to tow the support vessel to the Humber, where the Humber lifeboat would meet take over. However, during the tow north, the propeller untangled itself and the vessel no longer needed help, according to RNLI. The Resolute serves as a guard vessel at the Dudgeon offshore wind farm. (

THRAX SOLD TO ATLANTIC TOWAGE & MARINE LTD.

Atlantic Towage & Marine announce that they have bought from Østensjø the tug Thrax (Imo 9085209). The tug has been renamed Ocean Challenger and is brought under the Irish flag. The 62 tons bollard pull tug will be used in the oil terminal in Bantry Bay for berthing oil tankers. Further the tug is available for emergency response for towing or oil spills. The tug is equipped with FiFi-1, Hydraulic towing pins and a shark jaws for anchor handling. She is now based on the South West Coast of Ireland. The tug was built in 1994 by Sigbjørn Iversen M/V A/S (Simek) – Flekkefjord; Norway under yard number 80 and delivered to Torksey Ltd. and managed by Snaefell Ship Management Ltd – Peel. In 2004 sold to Østensjø Rederi A/S – Haugesund; Norway and managed by Solent Towage Ltd – Hythe. She has a length o.a. of 35.10 mtrs a beam of 11.45 mtrs and a depth of 5,02mtrs. The two 6 cylinder Wichmann type 6L28B diesel engines develops a total output of 3,600 kW (4,894 hp) at 660 rpm. Her free sailing speed is 13.8 knots.

TOTAL HIRES SOLSTAD’S PSV NORMAND AURORA

Norwegian offshore service and shipping company Solstad Offshore has been awarded a contract for one of its platform supply vessels (PSV) by Total E&P UK. Solstad said on Thursday that the contract with Total is for the PSV Normand Aurora for a firm period of 90 days, starting this week. The contract may be extended with an additional three one-month extension options. The company added that the commercial terms between the parties were confidential. The Normand Aurora, an Ulstein P105 design PSV, was built in 2005 by Merwede Shipyard. The vessel is 86.20 meters long, 18.80 meters wide and has a deadweight of 4,249 tonnes. The Normand Aurora can accommodate 24 people and has a 966-square meter deck. According to current AIS data, the vessel is positioned just a few miles offshore the port in Cromarty, Scotland. In related news, Offshore Energy Today reported on Monday that Solstad would join Deep Sea Supply and Farstad Shipping in creating a new ‘world class’ offshore supply vessel company in Norway with a fleet of 154 vessels.

STANDARD DRILLING TAKES OVER VOLSTAD PSV TRIO

S.D Standard Drilling has taken delivery of three platform supply vessels from Volstad Shipping. Standard Drilling announced the purchase of Volstad’s three Norwegian-built PSVs on January 19, 2017, for a consideration of $40 million. The vessels, of a ST-216L CD type, are Volstad Viking, Volstad Supplier and Volstad Princess. They were all built at Aker Brattvaag, Norway in 2007-2008, with 1,060m2 deck space and equipped with ice class capabilities. According to Standard Drilling’s Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Thursday, the transaction was completed on February 8 and the company, through subsidiaries, took delivery of the vessels. Following the completion of acquisition of three Volstad’s vessels, the company owns 100% of three large-size PSVs and has invested in additional 13 mid-size PSVs, bringing its total fleet of partly and/or fully owned vessels up to 16 PSVs. To remind, after buying Volstad’s PSVs, Standard Drilling also in January secured 15.6% ownership in a company which owns six platform suppliers, previously owned by World Wide Supply

ANOTHER OF POPULAR CLASS HEADS FOR WEST CENTRAL AFRICA

Tugboat Ivindo started her maiden journey to operate in West Central Africa. This is the latest in the Bogacay Class which has achieved such notable success in recent years with over 30 having been delivered or on order. This ASD design, exclusive to this builder, is known as the Robert Allan RAmparts 2400 SX Class but contains considerable input based on Sanmar’s own operational experience. Measuring 24.4m in length with a moulded beam of 11.25m and an overall draft 5.70m, the tug is powered by pair of Caterpillar 3516 C main engines, each developing 2100kW at 1600 rev/min driving Rolls-Royce type US 255 FP azimuth drives with carbon shafts turning 2600mm diameter propellers inside high efficiency nozzles with stainless steel inner surfaces. Auxiliary generator sets are also by Caterpillar – a pair of 86ekW C4.4s. The port side main engine also powers the pump that feeds the external fire-fighting system with a FFS supplied monitor capacity of 1200m3/h located at the forward end of the bridge deck. This machinery combination delivers a bollard pull of up to 70 tonnes and drives the hull when free-running at a speed of 13 knots. The main winch, manufactured by DMT, is mounted on the fore deck.

CONSORTIUM TARGETS WIDER WEATHER WINDOW FOR CTV USE

A consortium of European offshore wind and maritime industry players has initiated a project aimed at improving safety and productivity of technicians performing service activities on offshore wind farms by expanding the weather window for Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) use. The project consortium consists of BMO Offshore, Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult), Siemens, Specialist Marine Consultants, University of Hull and Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN). The project, Safety and Productivity of Offshore Wind Technician Transit or SPOWTT, will combine measurements on board the CTVs and the surrounding environment with psychological and physiological methods to monitor the well-being of the technicians as they transit in different sea conditions. The obtained data on links between environment, ship motions and technician well-being is expected to result in a tool that will support the CTV launching authority to make the decision to launch, to not launch, or to launch but only with certain control measures. Optimising how CTVs make use of the ‘weather window’ to deliver technicians will improve productivity and lead to increased turbine availability, according to MARIN. When combined, it is estimated that this innovation will lead to a 0.7% reduction in the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE), equivalent to additional revenue of more than EUR 1.2m a year for a 500MW wind farm. To make uptake as rapid as possible the ‘model’ created will be open access and will be promoted for use across Europe across the existing and future CTV fleet. SPOWTT has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, and from the “Topsector Energie-subsidie” programme of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.

VATTENFALL STICKS WITH HORNS REV 1 CTV TEAM

Vattenfall has once again contracted Danish crew transfer vessel (CTV) operator KEM Offshore for a long-term charter of two CTVs which will service the 160MW Horns Rev 1 offshore wind farm in the Danish North Sea. The two CTVs which will service this contract are Orkama M and Elisabeth M. The charter contract was signed for a period of 3 years, with the option to extend the contract for up to 3 years. “KEM Offshore vessels have been supporting the wind farm since its installation in 2001 and we are very pleased that we won the tender and that we can continue the long time cooperation with Vattenfall with this contract for HR1,” said John Andersen, CEO at KEM Offshore. KEM Offshore has provided CTV services to the offshore wind industry since 1996. The company currently operates a fleet of nine vessels. Their latest CTV, the 28m catamaran KEM 2, was delivered in early 2015.

TWO 6000HP ASD TUGBOATS SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED TO SRI LANKA

On the afternoon of 9th February 2017, two 6000HP tugboats, named Ravana (Imo 9773002) and Pandukabhaya (Imo 9773014) were successfully delivered to Sri Lanka Government Ports Authority from Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. Boasting a latest ship design by the shipyard, the two tugs meet the notification of LR. Meanwhile, during the design process, many patents technics from the shipyard in terms of energy-saving and environment-protection and so on have been applied to both of the tugs. As a result, the general performance of the two represents an international advanced level in the field of tugboats with big power. The Sri Lanka registered tugs have call sign 4REW and 4REX respectively. They have a grt of 497 tons and a dwt of 490 tons.

BUGSIER 12 LAUNCHED

Both sister vessels Bugsier 11and Bugsier 12 are designed by the worldwide well-known ship designer CINTRANAVAL SHIP DESIGN of Spain and especially customized based on the requirements of BUGSIER by efforts and good cooperation of BOGAZICI, BUGSIER and CINTRANAVAL to obtain maximum efficiency and high performance on those environment friendly ships.

ISKES EXPANDS ITS OPERATING HORIZON

Iskes Towage & Salvage is expanding its operational horizons by mobilising tugs in European markets. It moved its azimuthing tractor drive (ATD)-type tug, Arion, from Ijmuiden in the Netherlands to operate in the German port of Lubeck-Travemunde on the Baltic coast. Arion will be employed for assisting with the mooring operations of roro vessels sailing to and from the port of Travemunde. As well as working with these freight and passenger ferries, the tug will be used to assist the increasingly large cargo vessels calling into Lubeck. Iskes has also started operating in the port of Lisbon with effect from 1 January this year, in a joint venture with Rebonave. Assets and know-how from both organisations will be deployed to service customers in the Portuguese port. The Dutch ports of IJmuiden and Amsterdam remain the primary focus for Iskes, and the company’s fleet of tugs has been strengthened by the arrival of a number of new vessels over the past year. The 82-tonnes Damen 3212 type tug Mars entered service in the second half of January, following the arrival of Telstar in October. The latter is a hybrid tug built to the Eddy tug design and offers a high degree of manoeuvrability and a low environmental impact.

JIANGSU ZHENJIANG BUILDS BUCKET WHEEL DREDGER FOR MBA DELTA

Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd. has completed the first steel cutting for the marine fleet of MBA Delta iron sands project in Fiji. The vessel series, being built to meet Bureau Veritas’ standards, includes bucket wheel dredger, work boat, pusher tug and iron sands concentrator barge.The company said that these vessels are designed according to the international mainstream type and represent the advanced level of the engineering vessels. MBA Delta iron sands mine, located at the mouth of Ba River on the northwest coast of Vitu Levu island in Fiji, is the primary mining project of Amex Resources. The mine is spread over 132 square kilometers and extends partly into water.

DEEP VISION ENTERING VALETTA FOR THE FIRST TIME

The 2002 built United Kingdom registered with call sign 2CVC8 offshore support vessel Deep Vision (Imo 9255139) was seen entering Valletta, Malta on Monday 20th February, 2017 for the first time. She was rebuilt in 2012 where the accommodation and superstructure capacity was increased, and ROV hangars were in-corporated in the superstructure and she’s the former Northern Canyon. The vessels is owned by Deep Ocean Shipping AS – Haugesund; Norway and managed by Deepocean AS – Haugesund; Norway. She has a grt of 4,491 tons and a dwt of 4,500 tons.

OCEANICA TAKES DELIVERY OF DSV NEWBUILD

The second of a pair of 43-meter monohull dive support vessels (DSV), the Oceanicasub V, has been delivered by Arpoador Shipyard to Oceanica Offshore of Rio de Janeiro. Incat Crowther designed the Oceanica-owned vessels for service in Brazil with Petrobras. The design has been developed to meet RINA class requirements for special service, diving, and dynamic positioning. The vessel is equipped for a crew complement of 36 and features a wide array of dive support equipment including deck crane, ROV A-frame, dive bell A-frame, hyperbaric chamber, HIPAP, rescue/workboat with associated davit, and necessary dive operations related spaces and equipment

GLOMAR OFFSHORE WINS EERV CONTRACT EXTENSION

Dutch offshore support vessel operator Glomar Offshore has signed a contract extension for one of its emergency response and rescue vessels. Glomar said on Monday that the company received a two-year extension for the charter of the Glomar Patriot EERV. According to the company, the vessel will operate on the UK Continental Shelf. The Glomar Patriot was built in 1975 by Welglegen Amels & Zoon in the Netherlands, originally named Karmoy Boy. It was rebuilt for the first time in 1991 and named the Britannia Endeavour. The vessel became a part of Viking’s fleet in 2008 and was sold to Glomar in 2013. In the same year, it was rebuilt for the second time in Gdynia, Poland, and converted to a Class B O&G UK ERRV and renamed the Glomar Patriot. The vessel is 59 meters long and 12 meters wide, has a gross tonnage of 1,177 tonnes and can hold up to 75 survivors. Mark van der Star, Chief Commercial Officer of Glomar, said: “This contract marks a milestone where half of our current ERRV tonnage is committed on long-term charters for 2017 and 2018 and shows our clients’ continuous interest and trust in our services.” Offshore Energy Today has tried to obtain more information from Glomar regarding the contract extension. However, a spokesperson for Glomar said that the company couldn’t provide any more details on the deal due to a confidentiality agreement with the client.

MAERSK’S FIRST STRAFISH AHTS ON SEA TRAILS

Danish offshore vessel provider Maersk Supply Service posted an image on social media channels showing its first Starfish series anchor handling vessel undergoing sea trials. Maersk Supply said on Friday that the first of six Starfish newbuilds started sea trials during the week and that it would work on the Janice decommissioning project in the North Sea after delivery from the yard. To remind, the AHTS vessel was launched from the Kleven Verft shipyard in Norway back in the summer of 2016. Delivery of the first two vessels had been scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2016, but according to Kleven Verft’s order list, the delivery should happen this month while the other four will be delivered in April, June, August, and October of 2017. The newbuild AHTS has a bollard pull of more than 230 tonnes and towing drums designed for 500 tonnes of pull force. Specs claim that the vessel has a 4,600 tonnes of deadweight capacity, and a deck capacity of 2,500 tonnes. The DP-2 vessel is 95 meters long, 25 meters wide and has an ROV garage for one ROV Launch and Recovery System (LARS) with a built-in ROV control room. It can accommodate 52 persons.

ALLSEAS HIRES SOLSTAD OFFSHORE’S CONSTRUCTION VESSEL

Swiss-based offshore contractor Allseas has hired one of Solstad Offshore’s subsea construction and support vessels (CSV). Solstad said on Friday that Allseas chartered its 2009-built CSV Normand Poseidon, formerly known as the REM Poseidon. The former REM Offshore vessel became part of Solstad Offshore’s fleet after REM merged with Solstad’s Solship Invest. The Normand Poseidon CSV is 93.6 meters long and 19.7 meters wide with a deadweight of 4,500 tonnes and a 1,046 square meter deck. It was built by by Kleven Verft and can accommodate 68 persons. The last charter for the vessel was with Adams Offshore which was agreed in 2014 for a period of three years. This charter agreement was supposed to last until November 2017, with further two six months options, but was cut short due to Adams non-fulfilling its obligations. According to the company, the contract with Allseas will begin on March 1, 2017, and have a duration of three years firm, which may extend to five due to two one-year extension options. The financial aspect and other details regarding the contract were not disclosed. In related news, Farstad Shipping, Solstad Offshore, and Deep Sea Supply agreed earlier this month to form a new offshore supply vessel company in Norway with a fleet of 154 vessels. Also, earlier this week, Solstad sold its subsea construction support vessel REM Etive to Fugro.

INDIA’S GREATSHIP DELIVERS PLATFORM SUPPLY VESSEL TO BUYER

Greatship India Limited (GIL), a subsidiary of Great Eastern Shipping, has sold and delivered its Greatship Disha platform supply vessel to its buyers. To remind, GIL entered into an agreement at the end of January to sell the vessel to an unknown buyer. As with the buyer, the financial details were also left undisclosed by the Indian company. At the time, the company said that the Greatship Disha PSV would be delivered to the buyers in the fourth quarter of the 2017 fiscal year, ending on March 31, 2017. With the delivery of the Greatship Disha complete, GIL and its subsidiaries now own and operate four PSVs, eight AHTSVs, two MPSSVs, five R-Class Supply Vessels and four jack-up rigs. The Greatship Disha vessel was built in 1999 by Vard Brattvaag in Norway based on a UT 755 design. The vessek is 67 meters long, 16 meters wide and has a deadweight of 3,100 tonnes. The DNV classified, DP-1 platform supply vessel offers accommodation for 22 people.

THE BRANDNEW TUG SVITZER TITAN ARRIVES IN HER HOMEPORT

Last week we have seen the arrival in Ijmuiden of the brandnew Damen ASD 2411 built tugs Svitzer Typhoon (Imo 9780067) and Svitzer Titan (Imo 9780055) one day after each other to join the Port Towage Amsterdam fleet. The tugs are built at the Damen Sharjah Yard – United Arabian Emirates under numbers 513409 and 513408 respectively. The tugs have a length of 24,55 mtrs a beam of 10,70 mtrs and a depth of 4,60 mtrs. The two Caterpillar main engines develops a total output of 4,200 kW (5,706 bhp). The free sailing speed is 12.5 Knots and are classed Bureau Veritas.

SEABIRD’S HARRIER EXPLORER TO CONDUCT CARIBBEAN SURVEY

SeaBird Exploration, a seismic data acquisition company, has signed an agreement to provide a 2D seismic vessel for an upcoming survey in the Caribbean. The survey is planned to start in March and will have a duration of approximately one month. The company will be using Harrier Explorer for the project. Harrier Explorer, built in 1979, joined the SeaBird fleet after being converted to 2D source vessel in Netherlands in 2007. The vessel has a length of 80.0 meters and a beam of 18.3 meters. The vessel is designed for worldwide operation.

VYBORG SHIPYARD TO DELIVER SECOND ICEBREAKING SUPPORT SHIP INTENDED FOR NOVY PORT IN MAY 2017

The second icebreaking support ship of Aker ARC 130 A design, the Andrei Vertitsky, is to be launched in May 2017, Aleksandr Solovyov, Director General of Vyborg Shipyard which is building the series, told IAA PortNews. According to him, the ship is to be delivered to Gazprom Neft before the end of 2017. This year will also see the delivery of the lead ship of the series. Vyborg Shipyard is building two icebreaking support ships based on Aker ARC 130 A design. The ships ordered by Gazprom Neft are to be deployed at the Arctic terminal operated by LLC Gazprom Neft Novy Port and located in the Gulf of Ob (Yamal peninsula). The vessels are intended for escorting of tankers, assistance during mooring, loading and rescue operations, providing tugging assistance, firefighting, participation in oil spill response activities. Under the contract, the vessels should be able to operate continuously under the temperature of up to -50 С. Major characteristics: LOA – 121.7 m; BOA – about 26 m; depth – 11.5 m; unloaded displacement – 8,699 t. Vyborg Shipyard laid down the lead icebreaking ship for Gazprom Neft Novy Port, the Aleksandr Sannikov, on November 3, 2015. Keel-laying of the first serial icebreaking support ship was held on 14 December 2015.

NIBULON ORDERS KIT FOR THREE NEW TUGBOATS

Ukraine-based Nibulon Shipbuilding and Repair is building three 1,200hp tugboats for assisting barges in Ukraine’s inland waterways. The shipyard is near Nibulon’s dry bulk trans-shipment terminal in Mykolayiv, on the southern Bug River, where the tugs will operate from. The three newbuildings are being built to the yard’s own 121M project tug design. They will be used to help ship agricultural products, grains and fertilizers on Nibulon’s barges along the inland waterways. A key component on these tugs will be wastewater treatment units, supplied by ACO Marine. Each vessel will have a Clarimar MF-0.5 wastewater management system. These will have a treatment capacity of up to 1.2m3 per day from a system with a footprint of just 1.63m2. These are the smallest units ACO supplies because tugs typically have small machinery spaces. ACO Marine managing director Mark Beavis said Nibulon had implemented an extensive newbuild programme helping Ukraine’s nascent shipbuilding and repair industry. The order for wastewater management systems came through ACO’s Ukraine-based agent, Sudoservice. “Winning this contract, the first we have secured to supply Ukraine-built vessels, will help us increase our leverage in the workboat sector,” said Mr Beavis. Nibulon Shipbuilding and Repair has delivered several workboats, including tugs since beginning shipbuilding and repair operations in 2013. These included two 2500hp POSS-115 project tugs, three 1,200hp 121 project tugs, three 90m non-self-propelled project vessels, a C14938 project mobile floating crane and three 70m non-self-propelled B2000 design project vessels. It is working on new orders including 24 non-self-propelled vessels of the B4000 design, a self-propelled dredger, two 3,500hp seagoing tugs and a non-self-propelled floating crane.

POSH (SINGAPORE) TAKES DELIVERY OF TWO OSD AZISTERN TUGS

Two Azistern 3270 tugs designed by Offshore Ship Designers (OSD) have been delivered to their new owner, PACC Offshore Services Holdings Limited (POSH Singapore), the leading Asia-based international offshore support vessel operator. Posh Husky and Posh Hardy were built at Paxocean Shipyard in Singapore. They are classed by Bureau Veritas, and fly the Singapore flag. The 488 gt vessels have a LOA of 31.62 m, a bollard pull of 72 tonnes, and a maximum speed of 13 knots. They can accommodate ten crew members in six single and two twin-berth cabins. OSD managing director Michiel Wijsmuller says, “POSH(Singapore) has a young and diverse fleet of over one hundred vessels servicing various sectors of the offshore oil and gas value chain, and we are delighted that it has supplemented its portfolio with the addition of these two new OSD-designed tugs.”
